It has been a wild month at our house... We have done more than our fair share of traveling, and I am anxious to get back into my own home and bed.
Mike started out around the 14th, by going to Costa Rica. He went for a long weekend, and the day he returned home, I left for the islands. Nice week in paradise. And the day after I got home, Mike is leaving again. He is off to the OC to see Chase before his internship ends, and he returns to school. So I know they will have a fun weekend. They have planned all sorts of man--fun things. Hmmm.........
But I bet they won't be doing anything like this -- sitting with friends on the beach, watching the sun go down.
And I bet this won't happen to them... What are the odds of being 5000 miles from home and running into someone you know...? Well, I now know that it can happen. Bon ran into someone she knew from Dallas. Crazy!
I have said it before, and I will say it again. It is a small world.
But I know Chase and Mike will do all kinds of sweaty, fun man things. Eat meals with no vegetables. Who knows what they will find to get into? Hopefully, they will take pictures. I need blog material. :)
My perspective from the center of the United States. Not the center of the universe, just the center of the country. You aren't going to come away from my blog with a ton of new knowledge. You could learn about a new piece of farm equipment or possibly a new kind of hair gel -- it all depends on my mood. I sure do love sports. Pro - not so much... Collegiate - yes, please. Come and investigate life with me.

Helping a Friend
We have a friend who will be sending her firstborn off to college in less than a month. She is.... It is gonna be.... Oh. My. It isn't easy. I think she knows. She told us that Jesus was coming back and her son really wasn't going to have to graduate. Oops. And he isn't going around the corner to school, it is a good day's drive away from home. She will be fine. It sounds awful, and the dread is the worst part, but she can do it. And we are here to help!
She needs to know some things about the fine educational institution to which her son will be matriculating. I think she might have visited there once. Or twice. So there is much to be learned.... like where her son will be living. Right here. Bennett Hall, one of the finest in the nation.
I mean -- if you are going to have to go and live in a dormitory, wouldn't you want it to be a traditional, nicely landscaped one? It is going to be a nice backdrop for his studies. I have heard that lots of studying gets accomplished there.
There are all kinds of things that he has already been able to teach his parents about his new school. Like the fight song, and some of the motions to go with it and other chants -- and then there are the little bits of history and famous alums. He is excited about it, and I think that is what she has going for her. You know, if he is pleased with how things go, it will make it easier for her, no doubt.
I am doing my part to try and distract her from this impending separation. My plan is to get her out of town for a few days. Maybe with some friends.... Maybe to an undisclosed island location.....
